EP0527000A2 - Sulphur removal process - Google Patents
Elemental sulphur is removed from streams of gaseous, or preferably liquid, organic materials, particularly hydrocarbons, by contact with an absorbent material comprising metallic copper. Reactive contaminants, such as hydrogen sulphide or carbonyl sulphide, are preferably absorbed from the stream by contact with zinc oxide and/or copper oxide prior to contact with the metallic copper absorbent.
